Fresh blood on sheets like one of the housekeepers had cut their hand or something, and at the time we requested them changed the hotel staff didn't have access to clean sheets. They gave us a mattress protector to use as a top sheet. TV didn't have reception, staff weren't overly helpful. Hotel and furniture seemed very dated, old and tired for the money we paid. Poor value for money
The view from the roof was definitely a highlight of the stay. The staff were a pleasure to deal with. The room contained all the required appliances for a short stay.
It was a good price for the location but the class of the hotel was not worth the price. I am to understand that it is the price primarily due to the location. The elevators really portrayed the impression that they had not been serviced for a considerable amount of time. The reverse cycle did not seem to heat the room well and the TV did not have the Digital channels.
When we arrived we were given a used room it had not been cleaned from the night before when I told reception they said that house keeping said it was clean. They also took a copy if my credit card and withdrew $ 150 per room. Only to be told that it would be credited in other couple of days. We were given another too but not on the same floor as the guest we were staying with
the view of the Mardi Gras, but no balcony...........
being moved front front of hotel by police, plus trying to get back from road closures even though we had wrist bands on!
The policy of debiting $150 security deposit to my credit card immediately upon check-in and which is retained for up to 14 days is unacceptabl;E. It should only be held within the establishment and cancelled upon satisfactory departure of the guest. Guesta should at least be advised during booking that the security deposit is retained for up to 14 days.
closeness to all attractions
Had advertised buffet breakfast but had stopped it over a month ago. Rooms discription and pictures not the same as expected.
THe Location and convenience is top. The staff are excellent and very obliging.
I have stayed at the hotel three times. The partial renovation is good but full renovation needs to be completed. i.e new windows /double glazed/ tinted. This would cure the noise problem and there would be no need for nets then.New TVs.Better maintenance. Otherwise very good.
Oaks Hyde Park Plaza is in a great location - handy to everything! Our one bedroom apartment was massive and fantastic value for money. We could not fault our stay there and will definitely stay again. Thank you!
Good location, good staff. Good pool. Sizeable room
Condition of room was poor, smelt of parafin. One of two lifts were broken for the entire stay of 5 daysThe hotel is in need of an upgrade - not as described on the web
Oaks Hyde Park Plaza is an immaculate hotel in a prime Sydney location close to everything. Staff is very friendly and we feel it is Sydney's best hotel for the money. We have stayed here many times on trips to Australia from the U.S. and are always happy that we chose this accomodation.
Size of the room was excellent and being so close to all the facilities only 20 min stroll to Circular Quay
Staff were exceptionally rude. Electronic key card kept failing to work as they had programmed it incorrectly yet we didn't receive any apology. We had to continually wait in long queues at the reception desk for staff, as they disappeared off for several minutes at a time. They were inefficient, disorganised and tried to charge me again for the room despite the fact I had paid in advance. Again we did not receive an apology when they realised it was their error, and that yes we had already paid. The other people we met at the hotel had very similar experiences and vowed to never return! Overall we were extremely disappointed with the hotel, avoid at all costs!
The pleasant and efficient staff, central location and good design of our 2 bedroom unit all contributed to use having a carefree stay. As well as ourselves we had our daugher, husband and thier 18 month old baby with us. The Plaza really suited our needs.
Fabulous location, great size apartment, helpful friendly staff, swimming pool was wonderful.
The apartment was abit tired, could do with a paint.Same for the swimming pool area, all abit uncared for.The sofas in the apartment were very uncomfortable.
Close to the center of Sydney
Air conditioning made high piched noise, staff called.. On return to room air con did not work, very stuffy in room over nite. Traffic also very noisy, distrubed sleep
